Hello all from sunny Cuba. It has been about 28C every day since we got here but don't worry, I'm doing fine because it is not very humid here. I know you're all relieved. I'm being forced to stay at the Melia Las Americas hotel, and it is bearly livable (guffaw). The rig (yes, I'm here to work) is in excellent working order and we have actually done some work there, about 2 hours. It's also about fifty meters from the ocean and really quite beautiful. Just want you to know I'm thinking of what I am missing in Alberia right now and I'm sad but someone needs to get this world economy back on track. I'll try to get some pics up there soon, but this is coming from an internet cafe and is not readily available once the work starts.

What I meant to say is "Next Friday!" The office called yesterday at 0752 and said "don't get in a panic to go anywhere just yet." I was still five hours from leaving for the airport, the latest I've ever been 'waved off' a trip was while I was on my way to the airport (actually, I once drove to Swift Current befor being turned around but where do you draw the line?) Anyhoo, I'll be living in a democracy for a little while longer...

I finally made turkey stock!!!

This morning in the shower I was thinking about the fact that at present there is no math capable of modelling turbulent flow. There is however, more than enough math to model partical motion. The problem with turbulence is that the paticles in it are constantly being influenced by their surrounding particles and visa-versa. I'm convinced that the answer lies somehow in an integrated fractal matrix. I know it sounds like Star Trek but, when I thought of it, I got that feeling I used to get while writing engineering exams in university which allowed me to simply write the answer in zero steps instead of a million (this caused my academic career a great deal of stress - "Show your work!" there was no work). Anyhow, I've never heard of an integrated fractal matrix, or even if integrating fractals in a matrix is possible. I guess I'll have to do some research and get cracking on this turbuant flow model, as this problem has dogged me for years. Perhaps I'll make it my new year's resolution! Or maybe my life's goal? If that fails I'll go to my back-up life goal of owning a Porsche 911...

Recent conversations regaurding Cuba have unearthed the information that the rigs I'll be working on are on the beaches.

Sorry.
